Dry-Fire Training, Part 5 – Shooter Make Ready Laser Targets

The Shooter Make Ready Laser Targets by Accelerated Firearms Training are impressive dry-fire training tools. They will help you advance your skills with firearms.

What are the Shooter Make Ready Laser Targets?

The rechargeable laser targets are 3” x 3” and have a 16 x 16 red pixel LED surface that detects hits as you engage them. In addition to emulating steel plates, poppers, and silhouettes the targets also show your hits as you shoot. Each hit is accompanied by a satisfying 9mm ting sound like it’s hitting a steel plate.

The Shooter Make Ready app is available for download on both Apple and Android platforms. This app is used in conjunction with the laser targets. Once the app is downloaded on your device, you’ll then sync the target(s). After that, you can use your favorite dry-fire training aid like the Mantis BlackbeardX. You can also use the RedShot laser cartridge in your favorite handgun. It can be purchased directly from Accelerated Firearms Training. If you already have a SIRT 110 model laser training pistol, or if you’re looking to purchase one, you’ll need to purchase the SIRT OneShot plug-in module from the company. This allows the training pistol to be used with the laser targets without any issues.

You can select a few different courses of fire within the Shooter Make Ready app. The courses of fire are located within the Settings. A few different styles are Steel Training, Friend or Foe, and Practical Shooting.

How much do the laser targets cost?

The app is free!

A single laser target is valued at $84.00. You can save some money by ordering a 2-pack ($162.00) or 4-pack ($309.00).

The RedShot laser cartridge is valued at $58.00 and the SIRT OneShot adapter is $32.00.

The USB 2-port target charging kit is valued at $15.00. It is recommended to use this kit to charge your laser targets.

Use code “CB10OFF” for 10% off (single use, new customers only).

The Pros

Practice Wherever, Whenever

With the Shooter Make Ready app and laser targets, you can practice your gun handling skills almost anywhere. You no longer have to plan your day around a shooting range trip. Just connect the laser targets to your app and train.

Save Money on Ammo

You can easily use a few hundred rounds of ammunition during a live-fire training session. With the Shooter Make Ready app and laser targets, you can do the same training in a dry-fire session without having to use any ammunition at all.

Compete Against Your Buddies

With these targets, you can challenge your friends to a dry-fire duel! In order to do so, you will need more than one target and more than one dry-fire training aid. You’ll then set the course of fire to “Steel Training”. Within the Steel Training Settings, change the target pattern to “Ring Reducer”. Each person will engage only their designated target. Whoever shoots their ring the fastest wins. Use the app if it’s a close call to determine who fired the last shot. They would be the loser then.

The Cons

Glitchy App/Targets

After using the app and targets for a while, I have noticed that they are sometimes a little glitchy. It doesn’t happen too frequently, but sometimes a target won’t automatically clear after a shooting sequence has been completed. I’m unsure if it’s an issue with the targets or the application or a combination of the two.

Final Thoughts

These targets are seriously a blast to train with. It is very satisfying to hear the steel hits, and they make me actually want to dry fire on a daily basis. The app is also a very nice tool to use. It provides a lot of information regarding hit accuracy and time. The Shooter Make Ready Laser Targets will help shooters of all levels improve their comfort and skills to level up their game.
