The CZ P-10 C: The Best CZ Compact Yet?

The P-10 C is CZ’s first striker-fired handgun in decades and just might be the very best in the P-10 line.

Want me to answer that question I posed in the title quickly? Okay, well, then yes, the P-10 C is the best gun in the CZ P-10 lineup. Now I have the longer answer with the why included. The CZ P-10 lineup has grown with the presence of a full-sized model as well as a subcompact model to join the P-10 OG the C model. C stands for compact, and it was the first gun in CZ’s rather revolutionary striker-fired platform. CZ is mostly known for its hammer-fired designs, so the P-10 C turned heads and continues to do so.

Outside of being the best in the P-10 family, the P-10 C is a fantastic firearm. It has a great trigger, brilliant ergonomics, excellent sights, an aggressive grip texture, and it’s ultra-reliable. The entire P-10 family can lay claim to those features. This makes the P-10 C’s fight for dominance tough, but like any self-respecting middle child, this gun is going to find a way to stand out.

What’s Compact Mean?

Compact is a relative term. When I say compact gun, I think Glock 26, or SIG P365, or something near pocket-sized. In the gun world compact means just kinda smaller than full-sized. However, that being said, the P-10 C is the perfect compromise size-wise as far as I’m concerned. The P-10 C is small enough to be comfortable to carry any which way you choose.

Standard IWB or appendix carry isn’t a challenge with the P-10 C, and the gun is small enough to be concealed OWB with the right rig, of course. CoughDropslideCough. The P-10 C remains lightweight and at 26 ounces, and you can still pack anywhere from 15 to 17 rounds, depending on your magazine choice.

The CZ P-10 C’s larger than pocket-sized design also gives you a great grip that allows you to completely control the weapon. I got big hands, real big hands, and the CZ P-10 C fits them like a glove. I can grip the thing tightly and keep it on target. This increased control allows you to use more powerful and potent +P loads, and the gun has the barrel length to ensure they reach the proper velocity to expand properly.

The P-10 C Is For Everyone

Buying and owning lots of guns is lots of fun for a proud gun nerd like myself, but that’s not everyone’s goal. For people who want one gun to cover all their self-defense tasks with a single gun, then the P-10 C is the perfect candidate from the P-10 family. The P-10 C packs a nice long rail to attach whatever light you want to it. You can go compact with the TLR 7 or go full-sized with a Surefire X300U.

The full-sized, aggressively textured grip gives complete control over the gun, even when your adrenaline’s pumping. Let’s face it if a guy kicking your door doesn’t make your palms sweat, then you might need a tomahawk for sporting reasons.

Ultimately it comes down to the same conundrum Goldilocks had. The full-sized P-10 F is great for home defense but a bit big for carry. The subcompact P10 S is great for concealed carry, but less controllable and efficient for home defense. Then the P10 C comes swinging in like Miley Cyrus in 2013. It’s the best of both worlds and allows for an easy shooting, easy carrying, and it’s just right.

  1. At 5+ years in production, how do you think the p10c is holding up in terms of reliability? I’m looking at this pistol and the S&W M&P 2.0 to replace a G19 gen 5. The CZ feels better, but I’m hesitating because of reports online of problems over the last couple years.
